ARCA at North Wilkesboro (Saturday Feb 6): I ran an OK race here with a few mistakes. I started 7th and finished 7th as the 12th ranked car in the field.
ARCA at Charlotte (Sunday Jan 31): I started 8th and finished 3rd in this very clean race. 20 of 22 cars finished on the lead lap, and I never saw a real crash at any point in the race. The highlight is from 10:30-11:00 in the video when I get tired of not being able to pass a couple cars, and go under them both through turn 3 and 4.
ARCA at Charlotte (Wednesday Jan 27)
ARCA at Iowa (Thursday Jan 21): Not a very interesting race really, not worth the time to watch. I started 3rd and finished 4th. I ran second for most of the race (in fact 3/4 of the way through, I started catching the leader) until about 2 or 3 laps before the finish, when the 2 cars catching me were dealing with old tires better than I was and passed me, putting me in fourth.
ARCA at Southern National Motorsports Park (Monday Jan 18): I messed up the start of this race by being way too non-aggressive. The car ahead of me hit the outside wall along the front straight right at the start of the race, and I started to go by, and then I heard the spotter call in my headphones, "Three wide, you're in the middle", and I chickened out and backed off. But as a result I got rear-ended and crashed. I got going again just ahead of the race leader, and decided to let the leader go by, so I was a lap down for the entire race. I ran very well after that first incident.
ARCA at Southern National Motorsports Park (Tuesday Jan 12): I collided with a lapped car while I was running 3rd on lap 16 (of 60), and ended up finishing 9th.
ARCA at Nashville (Sunday Jan 10, Race 1): I got smacked from behind, then damaged a couple more times by wrecks in front of me, and finished this race one lap down.
ARCA at Nashville (Sunday Jan 10, Race 2): I started 3rd and was in 2nd until the final two laps, when my tires were so worn that everyone still on the lead lap caught me, and I finished 6th, but this was a good race overall.
ARCA at Sonoma (Tuesday Dec 29)
ARCA at USA International Speedway (Lakeland, Florida)
ARCA at Atlanta Live Stream Recording (Monday Dec 21): I started 7th and finished 9th. These ARCA races at Atlanta have been uneventful, it seems like the car is easy to drive here, except that the tire wear in the last half of the race is awful and everyone has to slow down a lot.
Formula Renault 2.0 race at Monza (Monday Feb 15): I started 8th and finished 6th as the 10th-ranked driver in a field of 16. The highlight of this race is the start, where the whole field goes screaming down the straight toward a 35 mph (55 kph) tight chicane. Everyone figured there would be a wreck there, there was no way that all of us would make it through there in a pack, but we did! (I'll take some of the credit for holding my outside line through the second part of the chicane, and still pulling away from the two cars on my inside.)
Formula Renault 2.0 race at Brands Hatch (Thursday Feb 11): I blew the start of this race and was lucky to survive (along with the cars right behind me, who did a good job avoiding me sitting there on the grid). I started 3rd and finished 5th. The first 6 laps (9 minutes) have some moderately close racing, though little passing, and after that it gets more routine.
Formula Renault 2.0 at Donington Park (Monday Feb 1): I started 7th and finished 8th. This is a very difficult track to drive. The race is not very interesting, the field gets very spread out, with a 10-20 second gap between most cars by the end.
Formula Renault 2.0 at Circuit Zolder (Monday Jan 25): Another not very interesting race after the first lap or two, although while I was driving it I could tell there was someone almost catching me but then periodically falling behind for the first half of the race. I was in 4th at the end of the first lap, then in 2nd at the end of the second lap until the end of the race after the 2nd and 3rd place cars spun on the second lap.
Formula Renault 2.0 at Phillip Island (Monday Jan 18): I started 6th and finished 6th. The first lap of this race was exciting, a side-by-side race that I end up winning with another car. The I spin on lap 3, and get damaged in an incident with another spinning car on lap 4.
Formula Renault 2.0 at Circuit Zandvoort (Tuesday Jan 12): Nothing happens in this race. It's 18 laps and 29 minutes of nothing happening. The track is interesting, might be worth looking at this video to see the track for a couple of laps.
Formula Renault 2.0 at Tsukuba (Friday Jan 8): A clean race in which I chase another car, staying right behind it, through a lot of the race, until we come to some lapped traffic where the car ahead of me gets by but I don't.
Formula Renault 2.0 at the NĂĽrburgring (Wednesday Dec 30): This race had some incidents in the first lap that I managed to avoid, and after that was uneventful. I started 3rd and finished 5th. This was a fun track to drive, although I never got confident or comfortable on it.
Formula Renault 2.0 at Barcelona (Tuesday Dec 22): I started 2nd and finished 4th in the bottom of two splits for this race. There's a wide variety of skill levels and car setups in this series, and it showed -- after about the fourth lap we were widely separated and mostly driving around alone. I got what I wanted out of this race, which was to have zero incidents and finish the whole race.
Formula Renault 2.0 at Road America (Friday Dec 18): I wanted to do well in this race, but both times I entered, I got wrecked. In the race in this video, I hit a wall avoiding a car who spun (after he passed a couple of us the lap before) and it bent my suspension or something, so I was losing a couple seconds a lap after that and you'll notice that to go straight the steering wheel has to be turned left.
Skip Barber at the Charlotte Roval (Tuesday Jan 26): I started 7th and finished 6th in this race where a lot of people passed me but then a lot of people also spun out ahead of me and I went by them.
Skip Barber at Zolder (Wednesday Jan 20): I started 5th and finished 4th in this race where I was the 16th ranked driver. (I entered this race two other times earlier the same evening, and got caught both times in incidents that happened 15 feet ahead of me.)
Skip Barber at Imola (Thursday Jan 14): I started 5th and finished 6th in a good race on a difficult track with some close racing. I lose a lot of positions on the first lap, falling to 10th or 11th, because I was slow off the line and I don't fight people going into turns on cold tires early in the race.
Skip Barber at Watkins Glen (Saturday Jan 9): This was a great race for about nine and a half minutes, from about 11:30 in the video to 21:00. And then the driver I was racing closely with throughout the entire race wrecked me on the next-to-last lap.
Skip Barber at Sonoma (Sunday Dec 27)
Skip Barber at Oulton Park (Friday Dec 18): This is a great, fun track for the Skippy car.
Indy Pro Race at Silverstone (Friday Feb 5): I started 9th and finished 8th as the 10th-ranked driver in this race. My best lap in the race was a 1:55.7, so I found the ~2 seconds I needed since initial practices earlier in the week where I was in the 1:57's.
